Montessori Pedagogy

The Montessori approach to educating young children centers on carefully preparing the classroom environment with interesting and age appropriate materials for self-directed learning. Children working in our carefully designed classrooms with the Montessori materials and certified teachers enjoy individualized instruction and concentration on chosen materials. They prefer calm and orderly environments, explode into writing and reading, and are self-confident and happy children. The authentic Montessori materials lend themselves to purposeful cognitive and motor activity which interests young children. It is through manipulation of these specialized materials all of which have lessons of math, language, science, geography etc. embedded in them that the children learn abstract concepts effortlessly. The Montessori approach is an “aid to life” and although there is an emphasis on academics with the beautifully designed materials which lend themselves to children so readily, this time honored approach also provides valuable insight into the natural development of the child.

Our teachers strive to provide a customized educational experience for the development of the “whole child”.
In addition to our strong academic emphasis, we also offer a rich and varied enrichment curriculum which provides abundant learning opportunities and expose children to a variety of cultural and art activities in these early years.Core principles of Montessori education encourage independence and self-directed learning to inculcate courtesy, self-confidence and positive social interactions. We are always delighted to hear from parents that LMS graduates are motivated and enthusiastic students excelling in school, and we are so happy to see them when they stop by eagerly for a quick visit.

Our Programs

Infant (Nido) … We offer a high quality infant program to ensure that each baby’s emotional, cognitive, physical and social needs are met. Our rooms are clean, bright, cozy, and secure, with an exclusive cushioned outdoor space. Our teachers communicate extensively with the parents about the baby’s day and their use of our educational materials which aid motor development, visual focus, and concentration.

Toddler … Our toddler classrooms are specifically designed to cater to the rapidly developing physical and psychological needs of each child. Our skilled teachers prepare each classroom to provide ample opportunities for eye hand coordination, language development, independence as well as care of self and environment.

Primary … The core of the Montessori primary curriculum is based on the activities of Practical Life, Sensorial, Mathematics, Language and Cultural Arts using pedagogic Montessori materials. Children acquire self-discipline and independence, deepen concentration and increase attention span through independent work.

Kindergarten … Our Kindergarten curriculum covers mathematics, language, biology, botany, physical sciences, history, and geography as well as the arts. Our program prepares children not only for academic success but also instills in them civic and moral responsibility to be successful throughout their lives.

“The most important period of life is not the age of university studies, but the first one, the period from birth to age six; for that is the time when human intelligence itself is being formed.”
